REGRESSION THERAPY also called past-life therapy or past-life regression therapy is
client-centered. It focuses upon the discovery of the origins of a client’s problem.

In the past few decades, regression therapy has begun to emerge as a dynamic and vital
therapeutic modality embracing many disciplines, both traditional and non-traditional. It is a
hybrid concept that has created an effective trans-disciplinary approach through a
theoretical synthesis of many modalities.

Regression therapy defies a narrow, rigid definition, but an important characteristic which
distinguishes past-life regression therapy from other therapeutic approaches is in its focus
upon the discovery of the original causes of a client’s problems and in the acceptance of the
theory that present life issues or problems may have their origin in past lives, real or
symbolic, and in its willingness to explore this possibility with clients.

Many people have memories, daydreams, sleepdreams, and feelings about events that
cannot be tied to this lifetime. Through guided imagery Hathaway works with individuals to
help them find and understand these experiences in a positive and non-threatening way.
A session includes: evaluation of the sense modalities, guided imagery, examination of the
lessons of a past life, and an audiotape of the regression.

HATHAWAY’S BASIC APPROACH will vary for each client. Before conducting a private
session, he does an assessment of his client’s mental DNA. Often the client has a concept
of what he or she wants to work on. Can they recall or image sounds, tastes, feelings
(internal and external), or smells? He finds out if they read or watch TV or movies. Can they
detach and see themselves in the picture? Generally he does a short relaxation exercise to
get them to the point of access. They may go in their mind to a library of books, to
videotapes, a movie, or a single book with a specific chapter to be explored. They may
initiate trance by discussion. They may go with a feeling, a dream, a mental picture, in order
to create the connection to the past. The object is to begin with something that is
comfortable and by questioning or dialog, deepen the experience.
